講起香檳, 我們常常提起Moët & Chandon,巴黎之花,再高級有 Dom Pérignon和Krug,不過今日要介紹的Champagne Henri Giraud 雖然在香港並不普遍,卻是一支被Robert Paker認為質素在近年Krug之上的佳釀。

【Champagne Henri Giraud】

酒廠創建於1625年,在1990年之前,酒莊的香檳只對法國和意大利的VIP和皇室出售,直至第12代莊主Claude Giraud打理後,才慢慢推廣到國際市場,讓全世界可以品嘗到這個古法頂級香檳。

Henri Giraud是香檳區少有擁有葡萄園的生產商。酒莊位於香檳產區的特級村Aÿ村,現時法國香檳區三百多條村中,只有十七條特級村並且所有的葡萄樹都是按照有機葡萄栽種等級進行管理的,可見Henri Giraud 香檳質素之高。

莊主有句說話’’沒有偉大的森林,就沒有偉大的葡萄酒’’,所以不單是釀酒,連釀酒木桶都要選用香檳區的木材,務求增加香檳風土的一致性,酒莊選用Aÿ村旁邊argonne 森林最優質橡木。在現代發展下由於眾多考量,大多生產商已轉用Bordeaux的橡木桶或不銹鋼桶,所以Henri Giraud香檳是唯一 一家自用香檳地區生產的橡木桶的香檳酒莊,維護着傳統的製作方法。這種堅持為香檳帶來馥郁的果香和更佳的復雜性。

品飲:金黃色,帶有淡淡的柑橘香氣,口感細膩,酸脆,淺嘗Brioche,奶油,中等酒體。 與其他牌子比絕對物有所值。

? 名家品評:Opens in the glass with a lovely bouquet of citrus oil, mandarin, crisp yellow pears, pastry cream and blanched almonds. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, broad and vinous, with racy acids, fine concentration and a compelling sense of integration and harmony. This is a charming, elegant bottling that’s very hard to resist. It comes warmly recommended.

? Henri Giraud, Fut de Chene MV13 $1100

品飲:使用最高級100%Aÿ Grand Cru的葡萄釀製,在Argonne橡木桶中陳釀,以50%的單一年份調配50%的數個年份混合的reserve wine。只挑選上好年份主體進行調配,即使無年份,也並非每年生產。比如此款MV13,就是以2013年的香檳為主調配的 :金黃色,複雜,蘋果和熱帶水果香氣,杏桃和蘋果派口感,持久的焦糖奶油,輕微的煙燻 ,橡木味。韻味悠長,平衡感強,酒體飽滿,令人印象深刻的香檳。

  ? 名家品評 :The finest Champagne that I have ever tasted from Giraud is the NV Brut Grand Cru Aÿ Fût de Chêne MV13. Wafting from the glass with a rich bouquet of buttered yellow orchard fruits, brioche, dried white flowers, peach, orange rind and smoke, complemented by some delicate oxidative top notes, it’s full-bodied, broad and vinous, with an enveloping attack, a deep and layered core, lively acids and a long, sapid finish.

 品飲:Argonne系列是酒莊的旗艦酒,直接以橡木桶取材森林的名字命名。來自Aÿ風土的優質葡萄酒。 非常平衡,氣泡細膩,礦物質和柔柔海風,精緻而豐富的感覺使其成為極佳的香檳。

   ? 名家品評 :A year when only the great crus could be able to play their cards right.The months of July and August 2011 were rainy, grey and cold, interspersed with sudden and short very hot phases which deeply affected the Champagne region.Even in the Aÿ hill, 15th August was not favourable for this vintage 2011… and then, as usual, Mother Nature made light of us and exceeded the all-time record, that year in terms of sugar-load speed!
